This collection reminds me of the Commes des Garcons collection several years ago. Subtle, avante garde and definitely not everyone's cup of tea! Did you see the gigantic shaped candy wrapper clutch? Or the glove purses? The clear stiletto-ish boots? The men's bling bling scarf? Unisex fur jacket?! This collection is like the Obama of tonight's presidential debate—it's subtle but in-your-face, it's all about bringing far-out ideas and making it now/reality/current, it's unabashedly aggressive yet remains elegant.
Serious props to H&M and Maison Martin Margiela for creating a dramatic and daring collection. Very different from the the ADR accessories collection that was a little more of a commercial success. Or the equally brief and interesting Lana Del Rey collection1.
I can't say that I could pull off any of those outfits, but its accessory line is exciting enough that maybe I'm going to snatch that candy wrapper purse and the clear stiletto boots! Hooray!
